Tromsø and the Lyngen Alps: Where Mountains Rise from the Sea
Welcome beyond the Arctic Circle, to the magical region of Tromsø, the capital of the Northern Lights, and the majestic Lyngen Alps.
Here, the mountains plunge directly into the sea, and every descent offers breathtaking views over Norway’s fjords.
Imagine the white, powdery snow blending with the deep blue of the sea.
We will ski on light powder or spring firn, surrounded by the silence and unique light of the Arctic North.
The Paradise of Arctic Ski Touring
The Lyngen Alps are lower than the Alps of central Europe, yet their gentle slopes offer an incredible variety of itineraries for all levels – many starting right from the shoreline!
The best season for ski touring in Norway runs from February to May.
We’ll stay in traditional Hytte – the cozy Norwegian fishermen’s cabins – warm and welcoming, with large panoramic windows.
Each day we’ll choose the best destination depending on the weather and snow conditions, moving by car to reach the ideal spot.
If conditions allow, we can ski even on arrival and departure days.
And with a bit of luck, we’ll witness the magic of the Northern Lights dancing above us!
Experience and Safety
Since 2006, I have been organizing ski touring trips in Norway and know this region and its rhythm deeply.
Every detail of the trip is planned with care: safety, adventure, and camaraderie are the key words of this journey.
During the week, we’ll also cook together – a great way to relax and share good food after full days in the snow.
Suggested Itinerary
- Day 1 – Flight from Italy and arrival in Tromsø. If timing allows, short acclimatization tour.
- Day 2 – Ski touring trip nearby and avalanche rescue & safety practice.
- Days 3–7 – The best ski touring routes between Tromsø and the Lyngen Alps, chosen according to weather and snow conditions. Short ferry transfers (15 min) possible.
- Day 8 – If time allows, short morning tour and return to Tromsø for the flight back to Italy.
