Trekking in Dolomites

No lights, no noise, only a few solitary trekkers. Clear sky and clean air make you forget the chaotic city traffic.

We spend the night at the Flavona malga, now closed, in sleeping bags like old times. The morning after we go up the dark valley. A sprinkling of fresh snow transforms the summits all around us into a magical crown. While crossing the highest point of our trek: the little pass of Val Scura, height 2375 metres, about a dozen chamois accompany us from up above.

We continue in a north easterly direction, following a trail used by hunters as far as the Inferni pass. From here the descent down the valley begins. We leave behind us the open landscape and rock faces to go into the woods. The surroundings rapidly change from wide areas of dwarf pines to larch trees and dense red firs. We breathe in this fragrance, gathering together every single detail of this unspoilt nature, but no sign of a bear this time!!
